Spring position preview: Special teams

To get ready for the start of spring practice on March 14, GatorNation is doing position-by-position previews, breaking down the depth chart for one position each weekday. Today, we'll analyze special teams. Tuesday will be our comprehensive spring preview.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The debate about whether Alabama deserved to be playing LSU for the national title highlighted the importance of having a solid kicker. Had the Crimson Tide had one, we probably would have ended up seeing a Bama-Oklahoma State title game.
That certainly won't be an issue for Florida in 2012. The Gators have one of the best in the nation in redshirt senior Caleb Sturgis, who was one of three finalists for the Lou Groza Award. He's coming off a season in which he led the Southeastern Conference in field goals (21) and was third in field goal percentage (84.0 percent, 21-of-25). Three of his four misses were from 49 yards or longer.
