To get ready for the start of spring practice on March 14, GatorNation is doing position-by-position previews, breaking down the depth chart for one position each weekday. Today, we'll analyze the safeties. Monday will be special teams. GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Unlike the cornerbacks, there shouldn't be much drama at safety during Florida's spring practices. Nobody is unseating junior Matt Elam, and sophomore De'Ante Saunders and senior Josh Evans are going to get plenty of playing time regardless of which one starts opposite Elam. When the Gators use five defensive backs, Elam or Saunders moves to the nickelback spot, and Evans slides into the starting safety slot.
