To get ready for the start of spring practice on March 14, GatorNation is doing position-by-position previews, breaking down the depth chart for one position each weekday. Today, we'll analyze the defensive line. Wednesday will be the linebackers.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Like the offensive line, Florida's defensive line was the target of coach Will Muschamp's comments about not being tough enough mentally or physically in 2011.
The Gators gave up 132.7 yards per game rushing overall, but that number rose to 153.0 yards per game in Southeastern Conference play. Alabama ran for 226 yards and LSU ran for 238 in back-to-back weeks. But the biggest embarrassment was the 233 yards that Furman gained on the ground in Gainesville.
Spring practice likely will be the last chance for some of UF's returning defensive linemen to prove they belong on the field or risk getting passed by newcomers.
