BCS bowl matchup projections
Most bids are already locked in, but NIU could shake things up
(Editor's note: This file has been updated from its original version based on the results of Sunday's coaches' poll. While the expected participants for the BCS championship game, Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl remain the same, projections for the Sugar and Orange bowls have changed.)
We'll know for certain by Sunday night, but for now, here is my best prediction as to which teams will be playing in each BCS bowl matchup this season -- with a look at what things might still be up in the air.

Why it will happen: This one is a no-brainer, with the Crimson Tide punching their ticket with their SEC title game win over Georgia on Saturday night. The Fighting Irish had already locked up this spot.
What could change: Nothing. It'll be Alabama versus Notre Dame for the national title.
