GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida has been the most-penalized team in the Southeastern Conference during the last two seasons.
Gators coach Will Muschamp, however, isn't necessarily upset about that because he knows committing a lot of penalties doesn't keep teams from being successful. Committing stupid penalties -- such as jumping offside or a false start -- does, and that's what he's trying to get the Gators to eliminate in 2012.
"I think there's absolutely zero evidence to support (the theory) that you can't win a championship and be a penalized football team," Muschamp said this week. "Discipline penalties are the issue. When you're jumping offside, that's a problem."
Florida coach Will Muschamp knows good teams can overcome penalties, but he is insisting his team cut down on discipline penalties this season.
