To get ready for the start of spring practice on March 14, GatorNation is doing position-by-position previews, breaking down the depth chart for one position each weekday. Today, we'll analyze the receivers. Friday will be tight ends.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- There wasn't a more disappointing position group in 2011 for Florida than the receivers.
Deonte Thompson, who graduated, led the wide receivers with 21 catches last season. Redshirt junior Andre Debose was next with 16 (albeit for 432 yards and four TDs, 27.0 yards per catch). Not exactly a lot of production at a position that routinely landed players on the All-SEC team.
With inconsistent Andre Debose the Gators' lone play-making wide receiver, this spring will be an open audition for several players to step up and fill a desperate need.
