GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida coach Will Muschamp has had three signing class cycles to make the transition from the spread-option offense that Urban Meyer used to the pro-style attack that Muschamp favors.
The personnel switch is nearly complete. The Gators have changed the style of running backs (bigger power runners over smaller scatbacks) and offensive linemen (mammoth road-graders over leaner, agile in-space blockers). But it hasn't gone as smoothly when it comes to finding fullbacks.
It's not for lack of looking, though. There just aren't many high school fullbacks available, which makes it pretty hard to find a critical piece of the pro-style offense running game.
