TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama got its first surprise early Wednesday when ESPNU 150 defensive tackle Korren Kirven signed on to play with the Crimson Tide.
The Lynchburg, Va., native had played the recruitment process close to the vest all the way up to signing day, choosing between Alabama, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. In the end, he said he felt he belonged in Tuscaloosa.
"I just felt comfortable down there," Kirven said during a press conference at his school. "I felt like they could be the best to develop me. I felt comfortable around the players and they have the mentality down there to get it done. They expect nothing less. That's why I chose the coaching staff and school."
The Crimson Tide appears to have its 2012 class filled but a few more stars could commit.
