NORWALK, Calif. -- One of the most highly recruited players on the West Coast, Concord (Calif.) De La Salle linebacker Michael Hutchings has received offers from schools such as Boise State, California, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, UCLA, USC and Washington.
While he has remained open throughout the recruiting process, Hutchings said Sunday at the Los Angeles Nike Football Training Camp that after what will likely be a hectic spring evaluation period, he plans to trim his list to a more manageable group of between five and eight schools. He hasn't yet decided which schools will make the list, but he does have a firm grasp on which school will top it.
"I know USC is going to be the No. 1 school," Hutchings said. "I'm fine telling everyone that right now. I've already told their coaches. My family and I have a good feeling about them."
