Scout's take on Army All-American Bowl

SAN ANTONIO -- The 2012 Army All-American Bowl, which saw the West squad defeat the East, 24-12, featured several ESPNU 150 prospects. As can be expected in an all-star game the play was sloppy at times, but what was a bit surprising the game started out fairly clean, but got sloppier as it progressed. The game announced co-MVPs with the award going to West QB Cyler Miles (Denver, Colo./J.K. Mullen) and WR Dorial Green-Beckham (Springfield, Mo. / Hillcrest).

Here are some observations from the game:

Big-time wide receiver

The highest-rated player in the game was wide receiver Green-Beckham, who is No. 3 overall in the ESPNU 150. The five-star prospect who has excellent size for the position and is a fluid athlete with deceptive quickness displayed what he is capable of on one play where he hauled in a 79-yard touchdown pass. He quickly covered ground getting downfield and then used his size to subtly push off the defensive back and create some separation. He displayed his excellent body control, hand-eye coordination, and strong hands when he adjusted to the ball and hauled it in with one hand before turning back up field and finishing the play by running into the end zone. It was an impressive play that showcased his strengths and how dangerous he can be as a receiver. Green-Beckham, who finished with two catches for 88 yards and a score, did drop two passes that you would expect him to catch and one would have resulted in a second touchdown. On the dropped TD pass he did run an excellent slant route to get open, but just couldn't finish the play.
