Tim Beckman has big plans for Illini
New coach aims to keep state's top players at home plus dip into surrounding areas

For the last several years, the Fighting Illini have not had the draw it once had with Illinois recruits.
It's been three years since a four-star prospect from Illinois stayed home. The Illini's top 2012 in-state commitment is the 19th-ranked prospect, and the Illini were an afterthought to the state's top five seniors, all of whom didn't even have Illinois in their final group.
If new Illinois coach Tim Beckman hopes to get the program to the top of the Big Ten and to the Rose Bowl -- a place it is only been once since the 1984 season -- one of his main priorities will be to once again lock down the state's borders and immediate surrounding areas when it comes to recruiting.
