Big 12 fall recruiting capsules
With another season about to start and fewer than six months until signing day, here's a look at how the Big 12 is faring on the recruiting trail.K.D. Cannon (Mount Pleasant, Texas/Mount Pleasant), the nation's No. 5 player at his position. With Cannon, ESPN 300 ATH Davion Hall (Texarkana, Texas/Liberty-Eylau), four-star goal-line threat Ishmael Zamora (Houston/Alief Elsik) and three-star speedster Chris Platt (Willis, Texas/Willis), Baylor has one of the country's most dangerous pass-catching groups. Four-star RB Terence Williams (Ennis, Texas/Ennis) will make the Baylor offense versatile. ESPN 300 LB James David (Rockdale, Texas/Rockdale) and S T'Kevian Rockwell (Wylie, Texas/Wylie) lead a very talented defensive unit that can really make some noise in a couple of years.
Who they want: Now that they have their big prize in Cannon, the Bears are looking to keep their pledges verbally committed. Baylor needs to pick up a quarterback commit, and three-star dual-threat option Randall Cunningham II (Las Vegas/Bishop Gorman) is available. Baylor also has room for one or two ESPN 300 defenders from within the state. Defensively, Baylor hopes to sneak in the back door and land at least one of three talented Texans -- DE Myles Garrett (Arlington, Texas/Martin), CB Tony Brown (Beaumont, Texas/Ozen) or DE Solomon Thomas (Coppell, Texas/Coppell). Any one of those players would be a huge get -- Thomas is the lowest-ranked player nationally at No. 31.
Fall storyline: With 23 commitments, Baylor's focus now is to make sure it doesn't lose any pledges. Will the Bears keep its class intact, or will a couple of commits be persuaded to pursue other options?
Bold prediction: Many feel Hall will switch his commitment from Baylor to Alabama. Hall will shock some by remaining a member of the Bears' 2014 class.
