Editor's note: Every Monday in Four Downs, we'll roll out four stories, themes and nuggets from the football recruiting world to tip off your week in proper form. We'll set the table with the stories that need to be told and give you a leg up on the watercooler conversations around the office.
1. Back to the future
Even though no player's recruitment is the same, it's hard not to draw parallels between Leonard Fournette (New Orleans/Saint Augustine) and Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.
Fournette, ESPN's No. 1 high school football recruit in the Class of 2014, is going through many of the same things that Peterson experienced when he was the top player 10 years ago. Not only are they both record-breaking running backs, but both emerged onto the scene early in their high school careers.
Leonard Fournette and Adrian Peterson's similar path, Penn State's continued recruiting success and top receiver Ermon Lane's latest interest highlight Four Downs.
