CREVE COEUR, Mo. -- Defensive tackle Larry Mathews (Butler, Ga./Taylor County) didn't mind making the nine-plus-hour trip to St. Louis for the Missouri Black & Gold Camp at De Smet Jesuit High School. He considered the trip par for the course for someone looking to make a national name for himself. With offers from Troy, Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee State, Mathews said the trip to St. Louis allowed him to get additional exposure outside of his area. The trip also gave the 6-foot-2, 277-pound tackle a chance to show Missouri coaches that he was worthy of consideration for a scholarship. "[Defensive line] Coach Craig [Kuligowski] is a real cool dude. He came down to talk to me," Mathews said. "I came [to St. Louis] because they are interested in me, so I'm interested in them. I'm glad I came, because I got to see a lot of things and meet some of the coaches."
