ACC spring recruiting capsules
Spring practice is finished, and the recruiting cycle for the 2015 class is well underway. With the first quarter of the recruiting calendar behind us, here's a look at how the ACC is faring, first with a scout's take on the entire conference and then a team-by-team breakdown.
Scout's take on ACC recruitingThe Atlantic Coast Conference is quickly becoming a popular destination. Clemson and Miami lead the field, and the Tigers have a commitment from our No. 2-rated offensive tackle, Mitch Hyatt. The Hurricanes have two commitments from prospects who rank in the top five of their positions in RB Dexter Williams and TE-Y Bowman Archibald. Fresh off a national title, Florida State is off and running once again with nine commitments. Its top four commits all rank within the top 10 at their positions, including No. 1-ranked safety Derwin James Jr. Keep an eye on North Carolina, Duke and Boston College down the stretch. - Tom Luginbill
Lukas Denis and defensive tackle Anthony Palazzolo. Boston College has a number of offensive prospects on the commit list, including three-star tight end Jakeb Burt and offensive linemen Chris Lindstrom, John Phillips and Aaron Monteiro. Jordan Gowins is a key pledge at running back.
Who they want: ESPN 300 defensive tackle Christian Wilkins is at the top of BC's defensive board, but he is considered a long shot. Four-star running back Darrin Hall Jr. has the Eagles in the mix, though Michigan State is tough competition. Boston College is also after back Nevone McCrimmon. Linebacker continues to be a position of need, and Jordan Fox, Nick Conner and Reagan Williams are all on the target list.
Spring storyline: After putting together a solid class in 2014, coach Steve Addazio continues to prove that he was the right hire for Boston College. In 2015, the front seven is the position of clear focus, and the Eagles are scrapping to stay in the mix for a number of prospects.
Bold prediction: After signing two players from Georgia in the 2014 class, the Eagles will sign a handful in 2015 -- all on defense.
