Here's a team-by-team breakdown of the Big 12's 2012 recruiting classes.
Texas Longhorns
Size matters in the Big 12, and the Longhorns added some quality and quantity. At 6-foot-10, five-star center Cameron Ridley (Fort Bend, Texas/Bush) should be an immediate contributor and impact player who will provide scoring and rebounding. Fellow 6-10 center, Prince Ibeh (Garland, Texas/Naaman Forest) is solid now but has a rare combination of size and athleticism. Point guard Javan Felix (New Orleans/Saint Augustine) will help immediately, at least as a solid backup, and power forward Connor Lammert (San Antonio/Winston Churchill) is a bit of a project but he can stretch a defense. Small forward Ioannis Papapetrou (Melbourne, Fla./Florida Air Academy) is another shooter who can stretch defenses, and DeMarcus Holland (Garland, Texas/Naaman Forest) is a combo-guard who can provide quality depth.
Baylor Bears
The Bears already had an outstanding class after the early signing period and they added another stud in 6-7 power forward Ricardo Gathers (Laplace, La./Riverside Academy). He is built like a defensive end at 6-7 and 240 pounds and is made for Big 12 battles in the paint. While Gathers should definitely compete for a starting position, 7-foot center Isaiah Austin (Arlington, Texas/Grace Prep) is still the headliner. Austin is ultra-talented and only needs to become stronger and more assertive. L.J. Rose (Houston/Westbury Christian) is a solid point guard and will definitely be an early contributor, while Chad Rykhoek (Fort Worth, Texas/Fort Worth Christian) is a stretch 4-man who needs to add strength but has talent, and Taurean Waller-Prince (San Antonio/Earl Warren) is an athletic and undersized 4-man who should find a role as an energy guy off the bench. To continue reading this article you must be an Insider
