Editor's note: Every week in "Starting 5," we'll roll out five stories, themes and nuggets from the basketball recruiting world to set the table with the stories that need to be told and give you a leg up on the watercooler conversations around the office.
This week's Andrew Wiggins-heavy edition of Starting 5 includes how close to the vest Wiggins played his college decision, what Tuesday was like for the Kansas coaching staff and how close the Jayhawks were to being in the conversation for the best recruiting class of all time.
1. Andrew Wiggins: Nobody knew?
If I ever have a secret, I'm telling Andrew Wiggins (Thornhill, Ontario/Huntington Prep). He's that good at keeping things to himself.
Before the nation's No. 1 recruit in the 2013 class made his college decision on Tuesday, Huntington Prep (W.Va.) coach Rob Fulford took a poll of Wiggins' teammates. Seven of them correctly picked Kansas, while Florida State was second, followed by North Carolina and Kentucky. Those teammates who made guesses turned out to be the best sources. However, they all had one thing in common: None of them knew for sure where Wiggins was going.
