12 recruiting scenarios to watch
Between the fall and spring basketball signing periods, there is a lot of time to think about what might happen, which then leads to more questions about what else could happen if that first thing happens. While no one will have answers until the spring dominoes begin to fall, we can certainly identify storylines to watch as the new year approaches. Here are a dozen scenarios for which we'll be on the lookout.
Gators laying in the weeds, hunting big game
The Florida Gators could win a national title this year. It's possible. They could win one next year, too. Let us not forget transfers Damontre Harris and Dorian Finney-Smith, spectators this season, should be ready for next year. Mix in those guys with an ESPN-rated top-five recruiting class, and suddenly coach Billy Donovan is sitting on a powder keg of talent that could explode with another Final Four. But wait: He's not finished.
Florida is the only common school between ESPN 100 No. 2 Jabari Parker (Chicago/Simeon) and No. 4 Julius Randle (Dallas/Prestonwood). Granted, the Gators aren't going to play together in college, but Donovan, who loves to fish, baited his hook for one of these trophies. The Gators are also trolling for center Dakari Johnson (New York/Montverde).
