Texas programs at the top of Big 12

Here's a team-by-team breakdown of the Big 12's 2012 recruiting classes after the early signing period.

Texas Longhorns

Texas has a huge class that addressed several needs. The Longhorns' current roster has only two seniors and only one player over 6-foot-8 (senior Clint Chapman). Cameron Ridley (Fort Worth, Texas/Bush) is the stud of the class and should be a major contributor immediately. He is a major low-post player who can score and rebound. ESPNU 100 C Prince Ibeh (Garland, Texas/Naaman Forest) will probably need to play early, though he is raw offensively. He is an athletic, fantastic defender with great tools to build on. PG Javan Felix (New Orleans/St. Augustine) is great insurance in case Myck Kabongo decides to leave early; PF Connor Lammert (San Antonio/Winston Churchill) is a sleeper who could be good down the road; and SF Ioannis Papapetrou (Melbourne, Fla./ Florida Air Academy) is a shooter who can stretch the defense.

Baylor Bears

Baylor already has a very talented roster, with many of their players on the radar of NBA scouts. Enter 7-foot C Isaiah Austin (Arlington, Texas/Grace Prep), perhaps the most talented player in the 2012 class. He needs to play with more urgency, but the tools are there for stardom. L.J. Rose (Houston/Westbury Christian) is a super-solid point guard who can run a team and score. Chad Rykhoek (Fort Worth, Texas/Fort Worth Christian) is a stretch 4-man who will need to be accounted for on the perimeter.
