- Here are a few things to pay attention to in the Ohio Valley Conference as the NCAA basketball season tips off and signing day is around the corner:
Best incoming freshmanPF Nino Johnson at Southeast Missouri State
It is fitting that Johnson is donning the No. 1 on his jersey this season as he is the highest-rated player coming into the OVC and the excitement level surrounding his signing with the Redhawks has the SEMO faithful dreaming of competing for conference championships again. Johnson, who can play both with his back to the basket or facing up, had been courted by higher profile programs in the recruiting process, but the opportunities to create his own legacy at a place like SEMO proved too much to turn down. SEMO fans are hoping for their own version of Morehead's Kenneth Faried, who helped lift an OVC program out of the cellar and into the national spotlight.
