Here are a few things to pay attention to in the Ivy League as the NCAA basketball season nears and signing day is around the corner:
Best incoming freshman
C Kenyatta Smith to Harvard
Players like Smith don't end up in the Ivy League very often. At 6-foot-8 and 260 pounds, Smith has nimble feet, extremely long arms and hands strong enough to catch almost any dump-off pass and finish. He also has the soft touch to score inside. But the strength of his game lies in his ability to make and maintain contact in the post, gain position and overpower his defender around the basket. When double-teamed, he is an outstanding passer out of the post as well. Landing Smith is a clear statement that coach Tommy Amaker has Harvard in position to win a conference title.
Harvard's incoming center Kenyatta Smith and Penn's new point guard are worth watching in the Ivy League, writes Paul Biancardi.
