Here are a few things to pay attention to in the America East as the NCAA basketball season nears and signing day is around the corner:

Best incoming freshman

SG Four McGlynn to Vermont
It's a wide open race for freshman of the year honors in the America East as the league's incoming prospects can be characterized more by under-the-radar talent than obvious headliners. In this league, opportunity equates to impact as much as sheer talent does for incoming freshmen. One player who appears to have plenty of both is McGlynn. With over 35 minutes of playing time to replace in the backcourt, McGlynn will have an instant opportunity. He's a talented scoring guard who does his best work with his long-range jump shot. He played primarily off the ball in high school, but the Catamounts have a well-documented history of converting 2-guards into point guards and if McGlynn can prove capable of seeing even spot minutes at the point, his impact and time on the floor will increase dramatically.
