Big Ten early signing period grades
With the early signing period over and the class rankings set, here's a team-by-team breakdown of the 2014 basketball recruiting classes in the Big Ten, complete with final grades for all 12 teams. Final class grades for the ACC, American, Big East and Big 12 are already out.
The Buckeyes and Thad Matta landed immediate impact wings in five-star shooting guard D'Angelo Russell (Louisville, Ky./Montverde Academy, ranked No. 12), a straight-up lefty bucket-getter, and versatile forward Keita Bates-Diop (Bloomington, Ill./University), the No. 22 player in the ESPN 100 who is a skilled, tough cover for opposing combination forwards. Local four-star small forward Jae'Sean Tate (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central, ranked No. 25) is as tough, physical and aggressive as any wing in the class. He brings the ability to slash, rebound and defend multiple positions. He is a high-level glue guy. In-state three-star post David Bell (Garfield Heights, Ohio/Garfield Heights) is long, athletic and loaded with upside.
