Stibich is productive as both a running back and linebacker. This is a tough guy who has the size along with enough athleticism for the outside linebacker position at the major level of competition. We feel there is the need to improve his initial quickness and overall playing speed. His frame appears capable of adding bulk over time. This would be a positive as long as athleticism isn't compromised. This prospect is a good wrap tackler; can control and gather with a strong finish; does a good job in the open field, not allowing extra yardage after contact; is effective as a special team's coverage defender on kickoffs and punts. Although we detect some hip tightness when playing in space we see the balance and agility necessary to move through traffic and avoid trash when in lateral pursuit. Shows good anticipation and playing strength when defending against the run; plays both on and off the line of scrimmage demonstrating good read and react skills; uses his playing strength to effectively take on and defeat blockers at the point of attack. We also see enough quickness to beat blockers on the line with an inside move. This guy is a tough customer who demonstrates a strong desire to get to the football; his range outside the hashes is somewhat affected by his playing speed. Does a good job when playing in underneath zone coverage; is smart and alert, showing good route awareness and anticipation; gets his hands on receivers with eyes on the quarterback; flashes the ability to break on the ball while demonstrating good ball skills. Man coverage assignments must be carefully evaluated. We see linebacker with a nose for the football; has the motor and intensity necessary to play the linebacker position at the next level. Although Stibich is presently flying under the radar as a major level prospect we feel his size and production warrant continued evaluation as the season unfolds.
