Becker is currently a solid player at both linebacker and tight end. He flashes good blocking skill at the latter, but is inexperienced as a receiver. We feel he shows the best potential at outside linebacker. He does not standout in one particular area, but is an all around solid player at the position. Possesses a tall, lean, athletic frame with potential to add good bulk. He shows adequate ability reading and attacking the inside run. Excels when he has the green light to attack open run lanes on blitzes, slants and gap exchanges. Shows athleticism in space and chasing to the sideline. Displays the ability to break down and be a reliable open field tackler. Coverage range and technique is adequate and he occasionally looks smooth transitioning in his turn and run to the football. While effective at times, he struggles getting proper depth on his drops, and looks stiff in his crossover steps. He has not shown the ability to match up on backs or jam quicker slots. Against the inside run, he flashes difficulty sifting through the wash. Often times he gets sealed off by slot receivers, limiting his action in the tackle box. Needs to use his hands to escape cutoff and crack blocks. At the point of attack, he lacks the strength, leverage and explosion to force opponents upright. Currently lacks the speed and short-area burst to make plays sideline-to-sideline. However, our main concern with Becker is that we did not see many standout plays after watching him several times. He seldom took himself out of position, but simply did not make enough plays that wowed us. Improving size, speed and athleticism would help his transition into the next level. Could develop into a worthy tight end prospect as well.
