Coulahan is a hard-charging defensive lineman. He comes off the ball with the intentions of causing some havoc. He has a solid get-off and when he fires out low he displays the ability to push a blocker back and get penetration. He is active with his weapons, but inconsistent. He displays the ability to shot his hands and create separation. At times though he can be out of control. He will though keep his hand s active and continually work to get free. He displays the ability to get to half-a-man and push up-field and come off a block. A major concern for him is pad level. He tends to play high and can be pushed off the line of scrimmage. He needs to focus on getting lower and staying low. He has a good motor for a big man and works to get to the ball. He has adequate speed and very adequate short-area change-of-direction skills. As a pass rusher he can get some push to collapse the pocket. He needs to develop a better plan when rushing the quarterback as he can seem a bit wild. Coulahan plays hard and can be disruptive. We would not be surprised if he eventually became an offensive lineman. His skills may be better suited to that side of the ball and could enter into college program there.
