This is a D-Tackle who has been able to pack on some needed mass to his compact frame and while lacking in ideal height, he possesses a thick build and the ability to be a disruptive presence. Has just adequate height, but can be an explosive.
Versus the Run
Can disrupt with penetration. Flashes a quick first step and when he can just shoot the gap he is capable of quickly getting up field and creating problems in the backfield. While he can be disruptive, he needs to work on finding the ball and finishing plays when he gets into the backfield and displays just adequate ability to quickly redirect. Can fire out, get under a blocker's pads and generate good power from his lower body to help his hold his ground, but he needs to play with more consistent pad level. Also needs to be more consistent with his hand usage. Flashes good upper-body and hand strength to quickly separate and shed, but needs more consistently shooting his hands. His reach could make it tough for him to consistently keep bigger blockers off his frame at the next level in phone booth situations. Can be a physical tackler who will launch himself at times looking for the big hit and needs to work on more consistently wrapping up.
Pass Rush Skills
Can create problems as an interior pass rusher with his ability to quickly get off the ball. Shows flashes of quickly attacking half-a-man and being active with his hands, but needs to continue to develop the use of his weapons. Can create pressure with a bull rush with his ability to quickly get under blockers' pads and create push into the pocket.
Tough and physical taking on blocks in one-on-one situations when he keeps his pads down. Will turn and run to the ball with proper angles and adequate range for size.
Lealaimatafao lacks in ideal height and needs to keep working to develop and be more consistent in areas technically, but he is an explosive kid who if allowed to play to his strengths can be a disruptive presence in the trenches.
