(Done for the Class of 2013) Longino shows explosion and quickness as an edge player from both the first and second level. He has good height and above average size for the outside linebacker position. He flashes good playing strength and shows good speed once pointed in the right direction. He has an above average key and diagnosis skill-set and shows the ability to get off the spot quickly and make inside-out plays on the football. He flashes the ability to shoot his hands and disengage from blocking, but is not a consistent downhill player. He is better at avoiding contact when working through traffic in pursuit. His overall range and his ability to get sideline-to-sideline is adequate-to-good. He flashes a burst to close off the edge or as an inside blitzer. He shows some tightness in his hips and has to take an extra second to transition when having to make a sudden change of direction. He does a good job dropping to his zone with proper depth and width but will need refinement and might struggle locked up in man situations. He is more of a downhill player in both run and pass support. Longino is a special teams player and might contribute early in that capacity to a BCS level program.
(Done for the Class of 2013) Longino flashes the athleticism which allows him to get around the football. Has the size for the inside linebacker position at the major level of competition. Possesses better than average flexibility, balance and agility however we detect some tightness when trying to change direction in tight areas. Does a reasonable job with K&D run recognition skills however we see this prospect as one better at avoiding contact when working through traffic in pursuit of the football. There is the need to improve his playing strength and ability to be a downhill player; this is not a take on and defeat guy capable of stacking the inside run. His tackling skills must improve; some inconsistencies occur. Can wrap with a big hit but also will throw the shoulder. Flashes inside blitz potential with a short closing burst to the QB. All areas of zone pass coverage will need refinement while locking up in man situations may be a concern. We see a prospect with a good motor along with excellent pursuit habits that could help him factor in as a special team's player early in his career. Longino does not project high at the major level of competition. With improved explosion and playing strength he could be a productive player at a lower level of competition.
