Gatewood has ideal size and athleticism for the next level. He is an athletic finisher in the open court and can get to the rim off the dribble. He can pull-up and knock down the 3-point shot as well. Defensively, he slides his feet well and has the potential to be a solid defender.
Gatewood has the talent to play at the Division I level, but he needs to be more consistent in all facets of the game. His shot can be streaky, especially when he is taking 3's. In addition, he needs to play with more pace and get on more balance while attacking the defense (has a tendency to play too fast and take ill-advised jump shots).
Gatewood is somewhat of a sleeper for the next level. If he improves his jump shot (consistency), handle (going left), and overall savvy for the game, he has the physical intangibles to play at the D-I level.
