McClendon is known for his relentless energy and the different ways he can impact a game. Defensively, he smothers opponents with his strength, active hands, and assertiveness. Offensively, he can attack in the open court and use his strength and athleticism to explode to the rim. His chiseled frame allows him to finish through contact and he wears down opponents due to his attacking nature. In addition, he exhibited a much-improved jump shot as he he knocked in several shots out to 19-feet.
McClendon needs to continue to smoothen out his jump shot--both off the catch as well as off the dribble. In addition, his mid-range skills (ball handling against pressure) and triple threat game (1st step, jab step, pump fake) need polishing as well.
There are not too many prospects on the west coast that have the competitive nature, athleticism, and willingness to get better than McClendon.
