Mason has the full gamut of basketball skills at his disposal. He has a tremendous handle with the ball being a virtual extension of his hand and the quickness to break down his defender going both north to south as well as east to west. He is equally dangerous shooting the ball from long ranges with a very smooth stroke off both the catch or the dribble. Mason has a knack for making plays that can%u2019t be taught and projects as someone who could be equally effective on or off the ball.
It's almost impossible to project how good he could be down the line without knowing how he will physically mature. Right now he is very undersized, both in terms of his height and lean frame. He isn't able to play through contact at a high level right now, gets bumped off the line of his drive, struggles to finish in congestion, and can be overpowered on the defensive end.
The physical tools are really the only thing that Mason lacks and with a growth spurt sure to happen sometime in the next four years, Mason is as skilled and cerebral of a young guard as you will find.
