INSIDE THE NORTH CAROLINA TAR HEELS' CLASS
Who they have: A trio of outstanding perimeter players are on their way to Chapel Hill as Roy Williams and his staff have secured a group that is talented, versatile, battle-tested and know the value of winning right now. Point guards are supposed to lead, and that's exactly what Joel Berry does as well as anyone in the class. He is a physically strong guard who can run the show, score when needed and is also beginning to excel on the defensive end. Justin Jackson can score with a smooth and accurate jumper from beyond the arc and especially from the midrange. Local prospect Theo Pinson brings a wealth of versatility. He is an excellent ball handler and passer at his size and is a terrific playmaker. Not only do these players bring major offensive abilities, their athletic ability and size will be welcomed on defense.
Who they want: The Tar Heels are looking for one more player who can shoot the ball and score from anywhere on the floor or bring even more firepower. Rashad Vaughn fits their needs and is a priority for the Tar Heels. With Reggie Bullock already off to the NBA and Leslie McDonald departing after this season, the timing is right for more perimeter scoring.
