Wisconsin's BCS title chances

ESPN Insider's "20 teams that can win it all" series is previewing each of the top 20 teams in Brian Fremeau's five-year program metric, with the help of ESPN's Stats & Information group (for a full explanation and links to all of the previews as they are published, click here). This is the entry for Wisconsin.

The 2011 campaign was a high-water mark for the Wisconsin Badgers. For the first time in school history, the Badgers won 10 or more games in three consecutive seasons. They also played in back-to-back Rose Bowls for only the second time in program history.

Even with those achievements, there was some sense of disappointment at the end of the year because the arrival of highly touted transfer quarterback Russell Wilson had brought along expectations of a BCS title game appearance. Not only that, the Badgers' two regular-season losses came in heartbreaking fashion.

This year the Badgers have once again managed to land the most highly touted transfer quarterback prospect, former Maryland Terrapins passer Danny O'Brien.

Does his addition mean the 2012 Wisconsin club should also be entertaining ideas of a BCS title-game berth?
