Why the real battle is for the BCS No. 3 spot; teams in line for BCS bids

A single upset can cause a lot of change in the Bowl Championship Series standings, and Oregon's loss to Stanford on Thursday night is the latest example. Not only did that result remove the Ducks from the BCS title game driver's seat, but it also affected the outlook of a few other teams that are hoping to play in a BCS bowl in January.

Here's my latest pecking order for the 10 spots that are available in those major bowl games.

Current prediction: Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Florida State Seminoles

Next in line for BCS No. 1 and No. 2 spots: Ohio State, Baylor, Stanford

There is such a large gap between No. 2 Florida State and No. 3 Ohio State in this week's BCS standings that it's not even worth discussing the possibility of FSU being jumped without losing a game. The real battle is for the right to be in the on-deck circle.
