Picks: Cardinal will clip Huskies
Predicting Week 6's top games, including UW-Stanford and OSU-Northwestern
Each week during the 2013 college football season, I will offer up my picks and scores for the biggest games, in addition to a handful of other key matchups.
Week 5 is in the books, and my picks went a perfect 9-0, giving me an overall record of 35-10.
After a week that featured several marquee matchups, Week 6 also has several high-profile games that will shape both conference races and the chase for the BCS title.
No. 15 Washington Huskies at No. 5 Stanford Cardinal
Saturday at 10:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
Last year, Stanford led Washington 13-3 late in the third quarter before the Huskies rallied with two long touchdowns in their 17-13 upset win. Prior to that upset, Stanford had won the previous three games in the series by an average of 35 points per game.
Both teams have been very impressive to date as Washington is a perfect 4-0 for the first time since 2001 and Stanford is on a 39-5 run dating back to the start of the 2010 season. They both come into this one off double-digit wins played in the rain in Seattle. Last week, Washington beat Arizona 31-13 thanks to running back Bishop Sankey's school-record 40 carries for 161 yards.
Stanford is coming off a 55-17 thumping of Washington State in which the Cardinal racked up a season-high 560 yards, which was 295 yards more than what the Cougars had been allowing per game. Quarterback Kevin Hogan has picked up where he left off last season, and now has five wins over ranked opponents in just nine starts.
