Picks: Bama will win big over A&M
Predicting Week 3's biggest games, including Tide-Aggies and Rebels-Horns
Each week during the 2013 college football season, I will offer up my picks and scores for the biggest games in addition to a handful of other key matchups.
Week 2 is in the books and my picks went 5-4, giving me an overall season record of 12-6.
While Week 2 offered several high-profile matchups, Week 3 features the most anticipated game of the season when Alabama hits the road to take on Texas A&M. Elsewhere, Texas and South Carolina look to bounce back after losing last week.
No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide at No. 6 Texas A&M AggiesSaturday at 3:30 p.m. ET
The college football world has been waiting more than 300 days since that fateful Saturday last November when No. 15 Texas A&M upset No. 1 Alabama 29-24 in Tuscaloosa, catapulting Johnny Manziel to the Heisman Trophy and the Aggies to a top-five finish.
Keep in mind that in that game, the Crimson Tide were coming off an emotional, last-minute win over LSU the previous week, and the Aggies took full advantage by jumping out to an early 20-0 lead. After that, coach Nick Saban and defensive coordinator Kirby Smart made adjustments, allowing just two scores in Texas A&M's final seven possessions.
What was also overlooked in that game was the play of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, who, despite passing for a career-high 309 yards, threw two crucial interceptions after not being picked off in a school-record 291 consecutive passes.
