10 best bets for Week 2
Underdogs Miami, South Carolina among week's top value picks
Week 2 usually brings the fewest marquee matchups of the season, and that's true again, with just two games involving dueling ranked teams. Both those games make the cut for us this week, and we'll explain why we fancy the underdog in each matchup. Week 2 also has us introducing a few new teams we anticipate backing regularly, including Ball State, and sees us willing to return to two of the three teams that failed to deliver for us in a 7-3 showing last week.
Here's a look at the 10 best bets for Week 2 of the 2013 college football season.
ATS pick: Miami (Fla.)
We'll caution against over-investment this year in a Miami team that is limited schematically, but the Hurricanes are good enough for us to continue fading an overvalued Florida outfit this week. Florida does have better defensive personnel and an advantage in the chess match between offensive coordinator Brent Pease and the Miami defensive brain trust.
The Gators, though, are not sporting good team health and continuity right now, and Miami will get more from the personnel surrounding its quarterback. The Canes have the program's best mix of talent, experience and opportunity of the Al Golden era. This week's visit from the Gators is low-hanging fruit as statement games go.
Score: Miami 28, Florida 20
