Every year in my preview magazine, I rank the top non-AQ teams that have the best chances of becoming a BCS buster. This year, there are a couple of teams that have a great shot at going undefeated, and a few others are only an upset or two from busting the BCS.
Here are my top five BCS buster candidates for 2013:
I rank the Bulldogs just 41st overall in terms of talent heading into this season, and they have lost seven consecutive games to Boise State by an average of 31 points per game, but they are still my pick as the No. 1 BCS buster candidate. They return 16 starters from a 9-4 squad that last year outgained its Mountain West foes by an incredible 172 yards per game, which was 52 YPG better than Boise State and 156 YPG better than San Diego State, which, along with Fresno, finished 7-1 in the conference.
