Top 10 CFB player-scheme fits
Montee Ball, Robert Woods among players who fit best in their team's system
Bum Phillips once paid the ultimate compliment to Don Shula when he said, "Shula can take his'n and beat your'n or he can take your'n and beat his'n.
That speaks highly to Shula's abilities to be equally effective with any type of personnel, but in most cases the best combination is when a player is a perfect fit for his team's system.
So who are the 10 college players who fit best in their team's system?
Montee Ball, RB, Wisconsin Badgers
Role: Power runner
The Badgers like to use a power rushing game that grinds the opponent down and breaks the game open when the other team has had enough.
That is an apt description for last year's game against the tough run defense of the Illinois Fighting Illini. Ball gained only 87 yards on 24 rushes by the time Wisconsin started a drive late in the third quarter down 17-14. It was at that point that the cumulative effect of Wisconsin's game plan took effect. Ball broke off a 34-yard run on the third play of that drive and gained 137 total rushing yards on his last 14 carries while leading the Badgers to a 28-17 win.
