Can Arkansas win a BCS title?
Bobby Petrino is gone, but the Hogs return impressive offensive weapons
ESPN Insider's "20 teams that can win it all" series is previewing each of the top 20 teams in Brian Fremeau's five-year program metric, with the help of ESPN's Stats & Information group (for a full explanation and links to all of the previews as they are published, click here). This is the entry for Arkansas.
Last season was a bellwether campaign in the long and storied history of the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Hogs' double-digit win total gave them consecutive seasons of 10 wins or more for only the third time in school history, and their season-ending No. 5 ranking in the Associated Press poll was their fourth-best season-ending ranking.
As notable as those achievements were, last season did fall short of the national championship potential many thought this team possessed.
So what are the odds that this season's Razorbacks squad will be able to win the BCS title that eluded the 2011 Hogs?
Let's take a look at the pros and cons of Arkansas' 2012 BCS title hopes.
Why Arkansas can win it all
Tyler Wilson is the best quarterback in the SEC.
Last season, Wilson led the SEC in passer rating (148.4), ranked second in yards per attempt (8.3) and was one of only two quarterbacks to top the 20-touchdown mark (Georgia Bulldogs passer Aaron Murray being the other).
