Griffin, Wilson lead Heisman race

It's only Week 1, but first impressions can go a long way in the Heisman voting process.

A season ago it was Denard Robinson bursting onto the scene with his air-and-ground attack that would ultimately lead to a sixth-place finish in the Heisman voting. This year it's Robert Griffin III's turn to steal the show.

He may be a long shot -- the Baylor Bears haven't had an offensive player as a consensus All-American since Lawrence Elkins in 1964, let alone a Heisman winner -- but after the first weekend, Griffin sits atop the Heisman Predictor.

At this point in the season, the Predictor doesn't incorporate the polls (that will come once the BCS rankings are released), which allowed Griffin to take a slight lead thanks to his five-touchdown performance against the TCU Horned Frogs on Friday night.

And as long as the Bears keep winning, Griffin is not going anywhere.
