Les MilesRay Carlin/Icon SMILes Miles & Co. are young and inexperienced at quarterback, running back and wide receiver.

From May 27 to July 3, Insider's college football experts will preview the season for the 25 teams with the best chances to make the inaugural College Football Playoff, based on Brian Fremeau's post-spring projections. This is the entry for the LSU Tigers.

Fremeau's projection

Projected finish: 9-3 (6-2)
Chance to make playoff: 12 percent
Chance to win SEC: 12 percent
Toughest games: Aug. 30 versus Wisconsin (70 percent chance of winning), Oct. 4 at Auburn (47 percent), Nov. 8 versus Alabama (41 percent)

Why they will make the playoff

1. Their offensive line

Each offseason, people trying to make predictions for the upcoming season often make the same mistake: There is way too much love given to teams for having returning stars at quarterback, running back and receiver, and there's never enough consideration given to how many starters are back on the offensive line. That said, LSU should have one of the better offensive lines in college football this season.
