I’m assuming yes, but it’s a really impressive compilation of talent for next week’s showcase in Mobile, Ala.
And when considering that a record number of underclassmen are leaving early this year, roster turnover is a very real challenge for some of the sport’s elite teams.
Which programs are dealing with the most significant attrition? Here’s a look at 10 schools losing the most talent, but don’t expect many of them, including the defending champs, to be down for long.
Notable losses: DT Timmy Jernigan (No. 12 on Mel Kiper’s latest Big Board), WR Kelvin Benjamin, DB Lamarcus Joyner, LB Telvin Smith, LB Christian Jones, S Terrence Brooks, WR Kenny Shaw, RB Devonta Freeman, RB James Wilder Jr.
Look at that lengthy list and remember that this is the team that many, including myself, believe will make the College Football Playoff this fall. The reigning champs will likely enter the year as favorites to repeat, even.
