Under-the-radar coaching performances

Darren McCollester/Getty ImagesSteve Addazio had a successful first season as Boston College's head coach.Whether it was Auburn's Gus Malzahn (the recently named AP coach of the year) or Missouri's Gary Pinkel resuscitating SEC programs, or David Cutcliffe winning 10 games and an ACC Coastal division title at Duke, there were some extraordinary coaching efforts in 2013.
There were so many, in fact, that some really solid coaching jobs have been lost in the shuffle. Here are five of the top overlooked coaching performances of the year, as recommended to me by their peers.
Steve Addazio, Boston College Eagles
It wasn’t a world-beating sort of year, but that also wasn’t something anticipated from Addazio in his first season at Boston College. The program he inherited had won a total of six games, including four ACC games, in the previous two seasons. So seven victories and a bowl trip constitutes a strong start.
