The five best remaining free agents 

At this point in the offseason it's hard to find much value on the free-agent market. However, that doesn't mean the market is barren. Here's a look at who I think are the five best available guys still out there, plus an examination of some possible fits for each.

1. Yoenis Cespedes, OF

There are six clubs in serious negotiations with Cespedes -- the Miami Marlins, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians. Cespedes is a four-tool player whose fifth and arguably most important tool -- hitting -- ultimately will determine how much he can really help a club. Cespedes can run and has incredible power. Scouts remain divided on his bat and whether he is an average center fielder or must move to one of the corners.

He has the potential to develop into a middle-of-the-order bat, but he comes with some risk, as he hasn’t yet shown he can hit major league pitching. With a possible $30-40 million price tag, Cespedes has scared off some teams. Still, the Marlins remain the best fit for Cespedes if he can play center field. The Cubs are a good fit, as well, if he’s destined for a corner spot.
