Mike Moustakas scouting report
The Kansas City Royals have purchased the contract of third baseman, Mike Moustakas from their Triple-A affiliate in Omaha. He was the Royals’ first-round selection -- and the second pick overall -- in the June 2007 amateur free-agent draft from Chatsworth High School in Chatsworth, California. He is the nephew of a former major league hitting coach, Tom Robson.
Despite a slow start, before the promotion Moustakas was hitting .287/.347/.498 for an .845 OPS with 10 home runs and 44 RBIs with Omaha. Last year at two different levels (Double- and Triple-A) he pounded out 36 home runs with a 124 RBIs, finishing with an OPS of .999.
