Bowden's Bullets: Red Sox chase a lefty

The Boston Red Sox have been trying to acquire a left-handed starter for the back end of the rotation with Oakland’s Gio Gonzalez, Arizona’s Joe Saunders and the Astros’ Wandy Rodriguez garnering most of GM Ben Cherington’s attention. If the Sox can't trade for or sign a No. 4 or No. 5 starter, manager Bobby Valentine is prepared to give hard-throwing reliever Daniel Bard a shot. However, that would leave a gaping hole in the eighth inning.
