Jim Thome, who hit a combined .256/.361/.477 with 16 doubles, 15 home runs and 50 RBIs in 93 games last season for the Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. Thome is expected to share playing time at first base with Ross Gload for the Phillies as their regular first baseman Ryan Howard recovers from surgery on his left Achilles' tendon.
