Timonen retirement talk
By Victoria Matiash
One more year. That's how much longer Kimmo Timonen plans to play in the NHL.
After signing a one-year, $6-million extension with the Philadelphia Flyers, Timonen is set to compete through 2013-14. But that's probably it. Broad Street Hockey reports the veteran defenseman intends to retire once his final contract expires.
"99 percent sure that's my last," the 37-year-old said Thursday. "I talked with Paul (Holmgren) before the season started and he wanted to know where I'm at with playing one more year."
The Flyers' active blue line could have a very different look to it in two years' time, with only Braydon Coburn, Nicklas Grossmann and Luke Schenn signed beyond 2014.
