Kessel trade talk
By Victoria Matiash
Ten games in, trade chatter is almost inevitable when a club's usual leading goal-scorer has yet to score a single goal. Which brings us to recent murmurings about Phil Kessel of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Probably not going to happen, according to TSN's Darren Dreger. Although the Maple Leafs may be open to such a transaction -- a "possibility", Dreger claims -- there will be no immediate "fire sale" in Toronto.
"... Frankly, doubt it happens this season. Asking price would be at least top 6 (forward) and high pick."
The odds of another NHL squad offering up a high draft pick and a top-six forward for Kessel feel pretty slim at this point. Plus, if/when the 25-year-old sniper gets into his groove with linemates Tyler Bozak and James van Riemsdyk, there may be little desire to make changes.
